Caritas Czech Republic in Georgia and Tourism and Resort Department of Ajara signed Memorandum of Understanding

On 27th, of August 2019, in the frame of the EU funded project “Promotion Rural Development and Diversification in Khulo Municipality”, the Caritas Czech Republic in Georgia (CCRG) and Tourism and Resort Department of Ajara signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with. According to the memorandum, parties agree to strengthen cooperation and coordination in order to further develop tourism in Khulo municipality.

During the meeting, parties have shared future plans. The head of Tourism and Resort Department of Ajara, Tinatin Zoidze, made a presentation of ongoing and planned activities of the department. She underlined Mountain-based and Adventure Tourism development perspectives and plans in Khulo municipality. On the other side, Ekaterine Meskhrikadze, Head of the Mission of CCRG and ENPARD Khulo project manager, Giorgi Murvanidze, shared information regarding the financed and registered project applications in the frame of Rural Development grant competition.


The EU is supporting agriculture and rural development in Georgia through its ENPARD Programme. The programme is implemented since 2013 with a total budget of EUR 179.5 million. The main goal of ENPARD is to reduce rural poverty in Georgia. The first phase of ENPARD in Georgia was focused on developing agricultural potential. The second and the third phases of ENPARD focus on creating economic opportunities for the rural population beyond agricultural activities. More information on ENPARD is available at: www.enpard.ge.
