Second Phase of the EU Supported Rural Development Grant Competition is Announced in Khulo Municipality

In the frame of the EU funded project “Promotion Rural Development and Diversification in Khulo Municipality”, Caritas Czech Republic in Georgia (CCRG) and Khulo Local Action Group (LAG) announced the completion of the first phase and beginning of the second phase of Rural Development (RD ) grant competition in Khulo Municipality.

During the first phase of the second RD grant competition, Khulo LAG has evaluated 214 project initiatives, out of which, 120 initiatives, which were in accordance with the priorities and objectives of the Khulo Local Development Strategy (LDS) 2018-2022, has been selected.

The trainings on preparation of Full Project Applications forms, for selected applicants, has been conducted. The main topics of the training were: to conduct SWOT analyses of each project, understanding of competitive advantages, selection and justification of pricing strategies and cost of production of the product. Those topics will help beneficiaries to develop and fill the full project application form.  The training was led by experienced trainer and associate professor of Ilia State University Nika Koiava. Each training lasted one day and in total 98 applicants attended it.

In the frame of second Rural Development grant competition’s second phase, applicants should fill and send Full Project applications to the official mail of ENPARD Khulo project.

Applicants wishing to participate in the competition should submit electronically Project Idea in Georgian starting from 15 of August 2019 and send to: info.enpard.khulo@caritas.cz or bring to CCRG office in Khulo - electronically, located at Tbel Abuseridzestr #2. The application form can be downloaded from www.khulolag.ge webpage. The deadline to submit Project Ideas’ is 16 of September, 18:00, 2019. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

The EU is supporting agriculture and rural development in Georgia through its ENPARD Programme. Implemented since 2013 with a total budget of EUR 179.5 million, the main goal of ENPARD is to reduce rural poverty in Georgia. The first phase of ENPARD in Georgia focused on developing the potential of agriculture. The second and third phases of ENPARD focus on creating economic opportunities for the rural population that go beyond agricultural activities.
