With EU support training on pasture management and cattle nutrition was organized in Khulo municipality

On 8th and 9th of March, 2018, the two-day training on pasture management and cattle nutrition took place in ENPARD Khulo project office, in Khulo municipality. The training was led by academician of Agricultural Sciences of Georgia, Tengiz Kurashvili.

The main topics of the training were livestock management systems, arrangement of livestock stalls, estimation of pasture and varieties in Khulo municipality, the water quality share in livestock production, grazing types, timing and the nutrition process. The training was attended by up to 15 participants, including Khulo local action group members, local farmers and veterinarians from local veterinary hospital. The training was interactive, and participants were able to ask questions based on individual examples and discuss topics of their interest.

Training on pasture management is planned to be conducted in near future and who could not have attended it have a possibility to get information that they need and are interested.

The information training was organized in the framework of the EU funded project “Promotion of Rural Development and Diversification in Khulo Municipality” implemented by Caritas Czech Republic in Georgia (CCRG) in partnership with Croatian non-governmental organization HMRR and PMC Research Center, under the European Neighborhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD).

The EU is supporting agriculture and rural development in Georgia through its ENPARD Programme. Implemented since 2013 with a total budget of EUR 179.5 million, the main goal of ENPARD is to reduce rural poverty in Georgia. The first phase of ENPARD in Georgia focused on developing the potential of agriculture. The second and third phases of ENPARD focus on creating economic opportunities for rural population that go beyond agricultural activities. More information on ENPARD is available at: www.enpard.ge.
