EU supported informative trainings conducted on organic agriculture and renewable energy resources for farmers and Khulo LAG member in Khulo municipality

 10 December 2018, Khulo municipality - Basic principles and methods of organic agriculture, conservation, biodynamic, organic agriculture related directions, renewable energy sources and relevant technologies were the key topics of the training organised with EU support on 30th of November and 1st of December in Khulo municipality. The trainings were conducted by Association “Elkana” and Energy Efficiency Centre experts. 

Up to the 20 representatives of Khulo LAG, City Hall and local farmers took part in the information sessions. The participants were introduced to the methods of improving soil fertility and plant protection tools, solar, biogas, biomass energy and innovations related to them. The workshops were interactive, and participants were able to ask questions based on individual examples and discuss topics of their interest.

The trainings were organized in the framework of the EU-funded project “Promotion of Rural Development and Diversification in Khulo Municipality” implemented by Caritas Czech Republic in Georgia (CCRG) under the European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD).

The EU is supporting agriculture and rural development in Georgia through its ENPARD Programme. Implemented since 2013 with a total budget of EUR 179.5 million, the main goal of ENPARD is to reduce rural poverty in Georgia. The first phase of ENPARD in Georgia focused on developing the potential of agriculture. The second and third phases of ENPARD focus on creating economic opportunities for rural population that go beyond agricultural activities.
