Khulo Local Action Group visited Borjomi to Share Experience in Rural Development

On 1st of November 2018, Khulo Local Action Group (LAG) members visited Borjomi LAG. The aim of the visit was experience sharing to Khulo LAG.

Within the visit working meeting between Borjomi and Khulo LAG was organized, during those meetings both sides presented implemented activities and future plans, general overviews of local development strategies (LDS), results of RD grant component. ENPARD Borjomi Project Manager, Misha Lomidze shared experience and focused on key elements of the Borjomi LDS and its importance in the project implementation process. Khulo LAG received recommendations on the grant component and information about major challenges. At the end of the meeting, the Q&A session was organized, during which the participants had an opportunity to ask any question.

In the afternoon, both LAG representatives visited business initiatives funded by EU through ENPARD in Borjomi municipality with the support of Borjomi LAG. Among them were Pavloni's Demonstration Garden, rafting, education centre and stadium.

The visit was organized in the framework of the EU-funded project “Promotion of Rural Development and Diversification in Khulo Municipality” implemented by Caritas Czech Republic in Georgia (CCRG) under the European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD).

The EU is supporting agriculture and rural development in Georgia through its ENPARD Programme. Implemented since 2013 with a total budget of EUR 179.5 million, the main goal of ENPARD is to reduce rural poverty in Georgia. The first phase of ENPARD in Georgia focused on developing the potential of agriculture. The second and third phases of ENPARD focus on creating economic opportunities for rural population that go beyond agricultural activities. More information on ENPARD is available at: www.enpard.ge.
