Trainings on the European LEADER approach was conducted in Khulo

During 13-20 September, up to 100 local community representatives from Vashlovani, Didachara and Ghorjomi in Khulo municipality of Adjara AR attended information meetings and trainings regarding the European model of rural development, LEADER approach. The meetings were organized in the framework of the EU-funded project “Promotion of Rural Development and Diversification in Khulo Municipality” implemented by Caritas Czech Republic in Georgia under the European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD).

The objective of these meetings was introducing the European LEADER approach to the communities in Khulo and to encourage the establishment of a Local Action Group (LAG) with the participation of local population. At the meetings Q&A sessions were organized, participants received answers on all questions.

Among the training participants were local government representatives, women and youth groups as well as farmers.

The trainings were facilitated by the project’s partner organisation, Croatian Rural Development Network (HMRR).

The EU is supporting rural development in Georgia through its ENPARD Programme. Implemented since 2013 with a total budget of EUR 102 million, the main goal of ENPARD is to reduce rural poverty. More information on ENPARD is available at: www.enpard.ge
