Khulo Local Action Group visited Lagodekhi to Share Experience in Rural Development

On 20th of April 2018, Khulo Local Action Group (LAG) members visited Lagodekhi LAG. The aim of the visit was sharing experience to Khulo LAG.

Within the visit working meeting between Lagodekhi and Khulo LAG was organized during which both side presented implemented activities and future plans. ENPARD Lagodekhi Project Manager, Juba Maruashvili shared experience and focused on key elements of the Lagodekhi local development strategy and its importance in the project implementation process. Khulo LAG received recommendations on the grant component and information about major challenges.

In the afternoon both LAG representatives visited business initiatives funded by EU in Lagodekhi municipality with the support of Lagodekhi LAG. Among them were rose greenhouse, children's psycho-social rehabilitation center, strawberry greenhouse, cold storage facility and cucumber greenhouse.

The participants were very satisfied with the workshop and expressed the willingness for continuous close cooperation in the future.

The visit were organized in the framework of the EU-funded project “Promotion of Rural Development and Diversification in Khulo Municipality” implemented by Caritas Czech Republic in Georgia (CCRG) under the European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD).  

The EU is supporting agriculture and rural development in Georgia through its ENPARD Programme. Implemented since 2013 with a total budget of EUR 179.5 million, the main goal of ENPARD is to reduce rural poverty in Georgia. The first phase of ENPARD in Georgia focused on developing the potential of agriculture. The second and third phases of ENPARD focus on creating economic opportunities for rural population that go beyond agricultural activities. More information on ENPARD is available at: www.enpard.ge.
